My Philosophy
My photography is really a meditation on the surfaces of objects. There is so much beauty that is overlooked and I attempt to see it and show others. Wabi-sabi is Japanese aesthetic of appreciating beauty that is imperfect and transient. My photography is how I practice that aesthetic. I see the beauty in the aging of objects.
My Work
Many of my photographs are decontextual in the sense that the viewer rarely recognizes the object being photographed. They give the viewer the opportunity to create their own meaning. I look at the surface of an object and photograph an area that I think is beautiful, or interesting, or disturbing. Without context, the viewer has to make their own, which is a creative act. I encourage you to look at surfaces and make your own compositions.

My photographs have been shown in galleries in my home town, Colorado Springs, as well as in New York, Seattle, Los Angeles, Mammoth Lake, Santa Fe, Pueblo, and Midland, Michigan. They are held in private collections and public institutions.
